Ron Perlman Demands Guillermo del Toro Make Another Hellboy Film
Although extremely early plans for a third Hellboy film were teased last summer, nothing definitive has, as of yet, materialized. Today, in conversation with IGN, leading man Ron Perlman reaffirms his belief that a new adventure should hit the big screen sooner rather than later.
"[Del Toro and I] both walked away from ‘Hellboy 2’ agreeing that there would never be another one," he says. "But, with the passage of time, it became clear to me that he really always designed it as a trilogy. [Guillermo] has a very well-articulated idea of what the resolve would look like and it’s amazingly theatrical and is epic in scope and would make for amazing cinema, with or without the first two movies."
The first Hellboy, released in 2004, grossed $99 million worldwide. Its followup, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, followed in 2008 and turned in $160 million.
"I said [to Guillermo], ‘You owe it to the world to finish this trilogy,’" Perlman continues. "I’ve been giving him Jewish guilt."
Although he won’t get to wear the Right Hand of Doom for this one, Perlman will return to the big screen on July 12 for Del Toro’s Pacific Rim.
Colin Firth in Talks for The Secret Service
Source: Latino Review
The King’s Speech actor Colin Firth is currently in talks to star in the adaptation of The Secret Service, according to Latino Review.
Like his previous Mark Millar adaptation, Kick-Ass, Matthew Vaughn has co-written the screenplay with Jane Goldman and will also direct and produce the project through his MARV Films banner.
The series, illustrated by Dave Gibbons, tells the story of a British secret agent who recruits and begins to train his rebellious nephew. Firth is in talks to play the “Uncle” role and Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson was desired for the nephew role but is unavailable.
Millar previously confirmed that he and Vaughn want Mark Hamill to appear as himself, as he does in the comic.
The Secret Service is set to begin production in August for a November 14, 2014 release.
